September 1 – Meet at Cyclepath, across from Walmart; 6:00 P.M. Down Black & White to #120, turn west onto #120 till Highway #3, take #3 towards town South Boundary Road, take South Boundary Road till Range Road 55, south on 55 to #120, then east on #120, north to Black & White to Cyclepath.

September 8 – Meet at A&W (Highway #3) at 6:00 P.M.  Go west on Highway, turn right to go down

Holsom Road

towards Rattlesnake and back.  Distance to Rattlesnake is about 21 km.  For shorter ride turnaround before end of road.

September 15 - Meet at Cyclepath, across from Walmart, 6:00 P.M. – take Black & White south and back.  Decide how long ride out (by time) that way most should get back together.  Note: will take more time going out than returning.

Sepember 22 – Meet at A&W (Highway #3 at 6:00 P.M.  – take Highway #3 west to Seven Persons, return.  Distance to Seven Persons is 20 km.

AEG has announced details of the inaugural Amgen Tour of California Women's International Time Trial Challenge presented by Specialized and SRAM, which will take place in Solvang, California during Stage 6 of the 2011 Amgen Tour of California on Friday, May 20.  Using the same course as the Stage 6 men’s individual time trial in Solvang, the women’s event will be a 12-person invitation, showcasing some of the best women athletes in the world racing for a $10,000 prize pool.   The best women’s time trialists in the world have been invited and are expected to attend, including reigning Olympic gold medalist and former world champion Kristin Armstrong, defending world champion Emma Pooley, former world champion Amber Neben, former world champion Judith Arndt, and current US Champion Evelyn Stevens.

Bike club

Over 20 people joined us for our first Medicine Hat Bike Club meeting last night.  Everyone is excited to have a formal group for all of our community cyclists.
Our club is now selling memberships for only $50.  You can sign up at our store.  Joining gets you a membership with the Alberta Bicycle Association, a voice in your new club, and lots of perks to come. 
Our next meeting is on Thursday, Feb 24th at 7:30 at the Public Library.  We would love to hear your ideas for what you would like your new club to be.

Last night the back part of the roof at Central caved in due to the weight of the snow.  Not sure what the damage is with the Skate and BMX indoor park yet.  Watch for updates.

Bike Club

To all fellow cyclists:

As many of you are aware,  Alex McCuaig and myself and others have been working on starting a sanctioned cycling club for the cyclists in our city.  We have paid the fees and are now registered with the Alberta Bicycle Association.  I have attached a letter from Alex letting everyone know that we are holding our first meeting.  Take a read and mark the date on your calendar.  We will look forward to seeing you there!

The first meeting of the Medicine Hat Cycling Club will be held on Thursday Feb. 3 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Public Library's Currie Room.

We should be set up at that time to accept membership applications for those looking to join both as competitive or casual members.
More information on what the club will be offering members — such as discounts, ride insurance, et cetera — will be coming up in the following days.
